TABOO Motorsport returned to form at Cadwell Park with both riders posting their best results of the season to date.
The team’s owner/rider Michael Hill narrowly missed out on a point bringing his FRS kitted machine home in 16th place after a race long battle with Stuart Elwood.
14 year old Max Thomas is TABOO Motorsport’s latest recruit and after benefiting from the team’s help at his home round at Knockhill two weeks ago he lined up in full TABOO livery for the first time over the Bank Holiday weekend. Campaigning a standard machine in the his first full season of British Championship competition was always going to be a challenge but the Scottish youngster worked hard all weekend listening to the technical advice and assistance provided to achieve a credible 22nd at the flag having raced with (and leading) much more experienced riders on faster machines throughout the 14 lap race. The result also netted Max 11th in the Academy Cup which moves him to 18th in the overall standings!
“I am really happy with the way things went this weekend” commented Michael. “It’s great to have Max onboard as it gives us a chance to do what we set out to at the start of 2008 and that is to help bring on a young rider. Our aim is to continue to work with Max over the coming 3 races, to improve his understanding of the machine and his confidence ready for 2009. I would like to think that we can continue with him onboard a on a more competitive machine in 2009 where I am confident he can be a top 6 runner in the Academy Cup. As for me, we are continuing to develop the FRS kit and have some more tweaks (with the aid of our technician Pete Banks) for Croft so I am confident that those elusive points are on the horizon.”
The next round of the British 125cc Championship takes place at Croft in North Yorkshire over the weekend 12th-14th September, 2008.
