Scooters offer good weather protection for the rider, but to keep the machine pristine and to help deter theft, Piaggio have the answer in a range of covers tailored for all their popular models, including classically styled Vespas and the radical MP3 three-wheeler.
Vehicle covers not only protect scooters that are parked outside from the weather, but also from unwanted attention. The police advise owners to, “Use a cover over your scooter if it is outside” (source: Gloucestershire Constabulary Crime Reduction Section) and a survey conducted by Piaggio in London revealed that a cover was the single biggest theft deterrent.
Tailor-made to fit the scooter, Piaggio use tough waterproof material with a reflective strip running around it to improve night time visibility and the designers have allowed extra space for after-market accessories, like windshields and top cases, so the cover is easy to fit over the machine.
Other useful features include a reinforced ring so that a chain lock can be passed through both cover and scooter wheel and there is also a transparent panel at the back of some covers, allowing the registration plate to be seen for easy identification in crowded parking bays.
Prices:
£44.99 for the retro styled Vespa GTS 300 Super cover in black, while the silver cover for Piaggio’s XEVO maxi scooter is £49.99 and the larger MP3 version sells for £59.99.
