Learning Curve for Tinmouth at Cadwell Park
29 August 2008
Jenny Tinmouth had a challenging weekend aboard her Hollins Motorsport backed Honda CBR600RR, in round nine of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Cup at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire on Bank Holiday Monday, eventually crashing out of the race whilst battling for position. The 2.18 mile technically and physically demanding circuit proved to be a real test for the Ellesmere Port rider, but after some adjustments to the suspension, she gained more confidence through the fast corners at Coppice and Charlie’s, and the quick left right flick through Hall Bends on the mountain section.

Gearlink Kawasaki – Cadwell Report
29 August 2008
Despite some promising qualifying times, Team Gearlink Kawasaki was somewhat disappointed the anticipated top results never materialised. The team had to be content with a ninth place finish for Chris Martin and 16th for Steven Neate in round nine of the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on Bank Holiday Monday. Free practice and qualifying had seen both Gearlink Kawasaki riders post some quick times and at one stage both riders were circulating within the top three but a dry final qualifying saw the pace quicken and Chris ended the session in seventh place with Steven 13th.

Plater Takes Win for AIM Yamaha at Cadwell
28 August 2008 | 1 Comment
Steve Plater rode to a calculated win for AIM Yamaha in round nine of the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday. But there was no luck for David Paton who was involved in a second corner crash on the first lap. The Woodhall Spa ace had plenty to smile as he celebrated his birthday with a race win and was presented with a bottle of champagne after being pronounced rider of the day by the Eurosport presenters. Plater had been on form throughout the weekend and held pole in final qualifying until the session was stopped because of a fire in the campsite which saw smoke billowing across the track along Park Straight. As the session continued Plater was caught out by a cold tyre and slid off at Barn Corner. Unable to improve his lap times he was relegated to third place for a front row start to Monday’s planned 16-lap race.

Laverty Consolidates Championship Position in BSB
27 August 2008
Michael Laverty consolidated his BSB Championship position at Cadwell Park yesterday with a brace of top ten results [8th & 9th]. The Toomebridge rider maintains ninth place in the series, only two points behind Simon Andrew with six races remaining. Ian Lowry showed true grit and determination at Cadwell Park, coming from a lowly qualifying position [16th] to eventually finish eighth on the tight and twisty Lincolnshire circuit in the Supersport class. Having crashed heavily during free practice at over 120mph, it was a brave effort from the battered and bruised 21-year-old. Aussie Cameron Donald joined Lowry in the sick bay at Cadwell with a stomach bug, but Cameron didn’t let it deter him, eventually finishing in 11th place. This was Cameron’s last race in the British Superstock Championship for 2008, as he returns to Melbourne on Monday.

Hegarty Fifth for Co-ordit in Henderson Cup
26 August 2008
The August Bank Holiday visit to the picturesque circuit of Cadwell Park proved a tough test for BSB newcomers Co-ordit Racing this weekend (23rd-25th August). The 2.18 mile Lincolnshire circuit is notorious for its compact and intimate nature, the track itself providing the narrowest strip of asphalt that the British Championship riders face each season. The tight, narrow and twisting characteristics provided a stiff challenge to team owner Pete Bradshaw and his mechanics to set up Dean Ellison’s Co-ordit Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbikes.

26 August 2008
A crash in qualifying scuppered the chances of a points finish in round nine of the Metzeler National Superstock 600 championship for Gipsey Bridge racer Bruce Wilson at his home track of Cadwell Park on Sunday where he completed his race in 27th position. Wilson was running in the mid teens for most of the final qualifying session but dropped down the order after crashing. More Good Results for Injured Andrews
26 August 2008

In front of a massive crowd, Andrews on the Lloyds British backed Jentin Yamaha scored a seventh and sixth place respectively in the two difficult races. Despite rest and physio on his injuries Andrews knew that the tough, demanding 2.2-mile circuit of Cadwell Park would test his fitness and his injuries to the maximum. With no rest around the track the youngster once again achieved two more confidence boosting top ten results, which also promoted him to eighth place in the overall Championship standings.

26 August 2008
Hydrex Bike Animal Honda rider Guy Martin bounced back to something like form with a pair of solid points scoring rides in front of another massive bank holiday crowd in round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park. With team mate James Ellison sidelined due to a training injury caused the previous week when motocrossing in Spain, it was left to the 27 year old from Kirmington to uphold the team's honour at his local circuit. Despite the handicap of a row six start, Martin battled to fifteenth place in the opening race whereby he followed it up with a fine eleventh in the second race to make it his first double points scoring finish since the rescheduled Brands Hatch round in May, and in doing so now lies in 18th in the Championship, with Ellison in seventh.

Derby's Jon Kirkham extended his Championship lead as the ninth round of the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup suffered two red flag incidents at Cadwell Park (25th August). As Kirkham looked to extend his lead over Wilson, Gary Mason capitalised with superior drive out of Charlies to claim third from Sam Warren. Edging a clear section of tarmac behind him, Mason settled into a rhythm while Warren continued to hold off the constant pressure from Adrian Coates, Connor Cummins and Dan Hegarty.

Podium Record Remains Intact for Chris Burns
26 August 2008
Once again the STP Motorsport MV Agusta British superbike team put its supporters through the wringer with a roller coaster of a weekend at Cadwell Park. As we all know, though, it is the race that counts and Chris Burns maintained his record of standing on the podium in every race the MV Agusta F4 1000 has finished this season. Saturday’s free practice promised much ahead of the new-style qualifying but a damp track in practice on Saturday morning resulted in a major accident for Chris and the MV Agusta F4 1000, while he was lying in a fantastic 7th place in the time standings. Thankfully, both Chris and the bike escaped relatively unharmed and the team looked forward to improving on its provisional 16th place on the grid.

Co-ordit Racing - Cadwell Park Preview
22 August 2008 | 2 Comments
The demanding Lincolnshire circuit of Cadwell Park will provide the next test for BSB newcomers Co-ordit Racing this weekend (23-25 August). The 2.18 mile circuit has historically proved a firm favourite with both racers and fans over the years, who make the annual pilgrimage to the picturesque circuit. For spectators it offers the chance for close trackside proximity and the spectacle of riders literally ‘jumping’ the Mountain section. For riders, Cadwell Park is one of the most physically demanding tracks due to it’s tight, narrow and twisting characteristics that leave little room for error.
